Cardoso - Adair has established himself as a competent
singer. He is currently the best and most popular singer on the program
and the music he sings is very commercial. Adair comes from
Tangará de Serra, Mato Grosso and is 13 years old. He is the
youngest of five children. His father is a poceiro (a person who digs
wells), His brother is a professional football player,but playing for
Tangará da Serra FC only pays a minimum salary (currently
$160 a month) He has appeared more than 40 times on the program, most
recently playing the guitar as well as singing. His music teacher
Sandro has also played the guitar for him on a few of his television
appearances but died recently in a traffic accident. Adair's nickname
is 'passarinho' (little bird) A short documentary about Adair was made
and shown on the Raul Gil program. Adair Cardoso has sung a wide repertoire of songs from popular 'hits' of today such as 'Nosso Amor e Oro' (Our love is golden) and Ausência (Absence) as well as difficult songs made popular by the singer Jessé from the eighties. Another popular song he has sung is 'Abandonado' (abandonada) which he has also sung as a duet with the original interpreter Fafá de Belem and also with Erika Rodrigues. On the CD and DVD Jovens Talentos he sings 'Como vai você' (How are you?)
As part of the 'Tribute to composers' section of the program, Adair sang 'Foi Eu' a song by Michael Sullivan. Michael was visibly moved by Adair's interpretation and promised to write a song for him. The song was called 'Pois Só Você' and Adair Cardoso sung this song for the telethon in aid of the organization called 'APAE' (2006). It also appears on a CD sold in aid of 'APAE'.
